How to make grilled clams

Clams are definitely one of the most commonly enjoyed seafood. There are many ways in which we can prepare them, but if what we want is a simple recipe, quickly prepared and that allows us to enjoy the authentic taste of the sea, there is nothing better than grilled clams. There are very few ingredients that are needed to make this recipe and our only recommendation to make it delicious is that the clams are very fresh. Discover the step by step in the following article.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kilo of fresh clams.
  • 2 cloves of garlic.
  • Salt.
  • Lemon.
  • Olive oil.
  • Parsley.

Steps to follow to make this recipe:

  1. For the final result to be as expected, we advise you to buy fresh and good quality clams. Likewise, it is best to cook the clams as soon as possible once purchased, in the case of acquiring them the day before, keep them in the refrigerator covered with a clean damp cloth, so they will remain in perfect condition.
  2. Just before preparing the grilled clams, you should remove them from the refrigerator and place them in a container with cold water and a little salt. Let them soak for at least 15 or 20 minutes to release all the grit and residue that they may contain inside. When cooking them, you should rinse them and drain them well.
  3. Now it is the turn to prepare a kind of light sauce with oil, garlic and parsley that will help you flavor the clams and obtain a much richer recipe. First, chop some sprigs of parsley with the help of a knife, leaving them as fine as possible, and then do the same with the garlic cloves. In a small container, mix both ingredients and add a glass of extra virgin olive oil, stir and that’s it!
  4. Place a fairly wide frying pan on the fire, add a splash of olive oil and when it is very hot, add all the drained clams so that they are well separated from each other and do not pile up. Otherwise, they won’t cook well at all. Drizzle the clams with the oil, garlic and parsley sauce that you have previously prepared, stir and cover the pan with a lid.
  5. It will be enough to sauté the clams on the fire for a few minutes, they will be done when you see that the shells have opened, something that will happen very quickly if they are fresh and of good quality. Once open, remove the pan from the heat and serve them on a plate or tray. Finally, you just have to add, if you like, a few drops of lemon juice on top and your grilled clams will be ready to taste. We hope you like them!
